The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Consent Unit Specialist. Under general supervision, this position will serve on a statewide hotline as guardianship liaison for all DCFS youth in care, providing verbal and/or written consents for requests, including but not limited to medical, psychotropic medication, hospital admissions and discharges, release of information, travel, research, activities for school and camp, and psychological treatments for children under DCFS custody and guardianship. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about children and interested in playing a role in ensuring that children and youth in care receive medical attention and opportunities to participate in appropriate activities. The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent organizational skills and strong communication skills. DCFS offers a competitive compensation plan, excellent benefits, and a pension program. We invite you to join our innovative team to help make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of Illinois.

Minimum Qualifications

1.  Requires a master’s degree in social work
2.  Requires two years of directly related professional experience as a Child Welfare Specialist or Child Protection Specialist in the Department of Children and Family Services
 
The college or university issuing a master’s degree must be accredited, and the degree program in social work must be approved by the Council on Social Work Education.

Employment Conditions

  1. Requires a valid driver’s license, daily access to an automobile, and proof of vehicle insurance
  2. Requires ability to pass a background check
