IT Project Manager / Business Relationship Manager

The DNR IT Project Manager Business Relationship Manager role exists for the purpose of managing technical and IT-related projects specific to DNR divisions and programs throughout their project lifecycle. They are responsible for the successful planning and delivery of DNR IT projects to ensure the completion of project tasks on time and within budget. Integration and clear communication with key program and project stakeholders, such as DNR business areas, project owners, steering committees, the WI Department of Administration’s (DOA) Division of Enterprise Technology (DET), NIC WI, partner organizations and other State agencies is required. They also support staff to ensure they successfully follow State and department policies and processes for IT development, maintenance, and management; ensures quality projects are delivered, milestones are met, and provides regular project reporting, tracking, steering and management of tasks, issues, mitigations. 

These positions require a strong understanding of IT project development lifecycle principles such as business analysis, requirements engineering, architectural design, development, system/user testing, implementation, application support, ongoing maintenance and project closure. They maintain knowledge and expertise by staying abreast of current research; maintains an effective professional network by being a trusted, approachable, and professional expert on project management best practices and optimizations within a distributed agency. The Project Manager/Business Relationship Managers also help build, promote, and utilize standardized, lean, and relevant project management approaches, processes, materials (e.g., project charters, reporting templates, timelines, etc.); act as a champion and advocate for project management best practices; and can communicate the benefits and value of DNR IT project management to IT as well as business stakeholders.
